- Not all catchers will use the same receiving/framing techniques—different body types will give different looks to the umpires when receiving the ball, so the mechanics need to be adjusted, accordingly.
- For catchers will smaller bodies—arms, frame, etc.—the focus still needs to be receiving the ball on time though and meeting the pitch while it’s in the zone.
- Present the frame: the angle for the umpire’s view changes when the catcher’s arms are shorter, so make sure to present the ball to where he can see it.
- Keep true to the techniques: smaller frame doesn’t mean that the catcher shouldn’t work to meet the pitch, swaying the body and using the wrist and glove-side elbow if they are late to the spot.
