Strength and Conditioning Coordinator
Nate Shaw is entering his 11th season as the Strength and Conditioning Coach for the Arizona Diamondbacks. Prior to that, he worked for four years with The Toronto Blue Jays and The Tampa Bay Rays.
Nate learned his craft as a physical therapy technician before enrolling in the University of Florida’s Athletic Training Program. He gained valuable experience not only as a student trainer for the University’s Football team but also as a trainer at the Student Health Center and their Intramural Sports programs.
Nate was an outstanding high school athlete where he received letters and awards for football, baseball and Weight Lifting. Nate believes that “Durability is actually more important than ability. Creating a program that focuses on health and performance can be a bit challenging, especially at the youth level, but I believe that being healthy is more important than any other skill that an athlete might have.”
Nate belongs to the Professional Baseball Strength & Conditioning Coaches Society. Nate believes that “you can do anything you want if you put your mind to it. Work hard every day. Hustle and act with integrity, and you will accomplish whatever you set your mind to do. This applies to sports at any age level.”
Nate received his BS Degree in Sports Science with a specialization in Athletic Training. He lives in Arizona and is married with two children.
