Parkway Bank Sports Complex is the place to be in August 2019! The National Pro Fastpitch (NPF) Championship Series will return to the complex in Rosemont, Ill., for the fourth time and will run from Aug. 15 to Aug. 19. The championship will feature a Best of Five Series between the top two competitors in the NPF.
Last season, The USSSA Pride claimed a fourth Cowles Cup, sweeping the (hosting) Chicago Bandits—a talented team that includes YSPN360 coaches Ally Carda, Kristyn Sandberg, and Haylie Wagner.
“We are thrilled to be hosting the NPF Championship Series again in 2019,” said Chicago Bandits General Manager, Toni Calmeyn. “The Parkway Bank Sports Complex is a beautiful venue that we are proud to have in Rosemont, and the opportunity to bring an event the caliber of the league’s championship to our stadium is really special.”
The five-day event will host a wide array of activities for fans to participate in while attending games. The championship will kick off with the NPF Award Banquet on Wednesday, Aug. 14. The banquet will celebrate the standout players and teams from the 2019 season. Fans will be able to— for the first time —attend the event, joining some of their favorite teams and players to celebrate such an incredible evening. They simply need to purchase a stand-alone ticket or a Series package.
But the fun doesn’t stop there. Fans will also be delighted to see the return of the NPF Fanfest Tailgate Party. Attendees will be able to kick off game day with the beloved tradition of music, food, drinks, and games—including a corn hole tournament. This family event will run from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. (CST), followed by the game at 7 p.m. The party will take place right next to the stadium in the parking lot, and will be held before the first three games of the series.
The NPF will also host the 2019 Commissioner’s reception — an invitation-only event — on Thursday, Aug. 15.
“We truly enjoyed not only the Championship Series itself in 2018, but the complete Championship fan experience enabled by Rosemont,” commented NPF Commissioner, Cheri Kempf. “The stadium, dome, and surrounding entertainment district allow us to put on a Championship event worthy of the incredible athletes who are competing, as well as our passionate fans.”
The National Pro Fastpitch league will kick off the 2019 season on May 28, as the Beijing Shougang Eagles host the Canadian Wild of Southern Illinois. Teams will be seeking to disrupt the Pride’s championship-appearance stronghold, while that talented squad looks toward making a 10th appearance in the Cowles Cup since 2009.
The final game will be held on Aug. 11: a rematch between the Pride and Bandits.
