Press Release – Adds 20-year professional pitcher Bryan Corey to their prestigious baseball and softball coaching staff.

Bryan CoreyMarch 20, 2017 – Studio City, CA; We are pleased to announce that veteran Major League relief pitcher Bryan Corey has joined the sports coaching and education team. Bryan was recently named as pitching coach for the Oakland A’s Short-Season A Club, the Vermont Lake Monsters of the New York-Penn League for the 2017 season. Bryan joins Oakland A’s big league pitching coach Curt Young and former big leaguer Mike Schultz as baseball pitching coaches at YSPN360.

Bryan is the epitome of skill and perseverance in his chosen field. He recorded 91 major league games in his career, having pitched for the Diamondbacks, Dodgers, Rangers, Red Sox and Padres. He’s also appeared in 600 minor league games, plus his time with the Yomiuri Giants in Japan and several years in Korea before becoming a scout, pitching coach and instructor. His career has spanned more than two decades and continues with his assignment with the Athletics as well as providing valuable youth sport instruction with YSPN 360.

“I feel very fortunate to have played with so many great professional players and coaches.” Bryan said. “I’ve been able to see the world and learn the game and culture in other countries. I love this game and I’m grateful for the opportunity to share what I’ve learned with young kids now with YSPN360. “

About Bryan Corey
Bryan Corey is a veteran major league relief pitcher, scout, and coach. He is currently the minor league pitching coach for the Oakland As’ Vermont Lake Monsters of the short season A New York-Penn League. Bryan has served as an advisor to since its inception and we are delighted to have him as part of our coaching staff.

Bryan was selected in the 12th round of the 1993 Major League Baseball Draft by the Detroit Tigers. Prior to coming the majors, he played on the AAA teams for the Diamondbacks, Detroit Tiger, Oakland Athletics, San Diego Padres, Los Angeles Dodgers, Chicago Cubs, Florida Marlins, Texas Rangers and Boston Red Sox. Bryan made his Major-League debut after being selected 63rd in the MLB expansion draft by the Arizona Diamondbacks. He appeared in 91 games as a relief pitcher. His contract was purchased in 2006 by the Texas Rangers where he was a reliever until being traded to the Boston Red Sox where he went on to help the Red Sox win the 2006 World Series. He finished his major league career in 2008 with the San Diego Padres before taking his talents overseas.

He also pitched in the Japan Central League with the Yomiuri Giants in 2004. In 2010 and 2011 he played professionally in Japan and Korea. His love and experience in the game continued when he became a Pro Scout for the Cleveland Indians for 2 years then for the Milwaukee Brewers in the Arizona region for 2 years as a scout evaluating amateur players for the draft. He then moved into teaching and coaching becoming Pitching Coordinator for Arizona Future Stars Baseball group in 2016.
