Pro Pitching Coach Curt Young Joins Team

We are pleased to announce that veteran Oakland A’s pitching coach Curt Young has joined the YSPN360 sports coaching and education team. Young will bring his experience and advice to young players, parents, and coaches, joining Dodgers Manager Dave Roberts, Indian’s Coach Sandy Alomar, and other professional and collegiate coaches already on the web site. YSPN360 is a free on-demand multi-sport instructional venture dedicated to improving skills to make team sports more fun for all. The dedicated web site is being launched by Youth Sports Network Interactive Media, Inc.

“The chance to give back some of my knowledge and experience to the next generation is what makes this a great opportunity for me”, Young remarked. “When I started playing baseball as a kid, there were people there to guide me. Today the Internet lets us reach so many more.”

About Curt Young

Curt Young completed his fifth consecutive season as A’s pitching coach in 2016. He was originally appointed to the position Dec. 2, 2003 and spent seven seasons with the A’s before joining the Boston Red Sox as their pitching coach in 2011.  The 2017 season will mark Young’s 33nd year in the Oakland organization, which includes 12 years as a player, eight years as a minor league coach and 13 years as the major league pitching coach.

As a pitcher, Young compiled a 69-53 record and a 4.31 ERA in 251 games, 162 starts, in an 11-year Major League career that included stints with Oakland (1983-91, 93), Kansas City (1992) and the New York Yankees (1992). Young began his coaching career in 1996 with the A’s affiliate in the Arizona Rookie League.
