Florida State Softball Coach Lonni Alameda Joins YSPN360 Online Coaching Staff
February 17, 2017 – Studio City, CA; We are pleased to announce that Florida State Head Softball Coach Lonni Alameda has joined the YSPN360.com sports coaching and education team. Alameda will continue as the Head Coach at FSU while offering free on-line coaching and videos to younger aspiring players. She joins, Oakland A’s pitching Coach Curt Young, and many other professional and collegiate coaches at YSPN360.
Lonni is starting her 9th year with the Seminoles where she guided the team to 4 straight ACC titles and two trips to the final site of the NCAA Championships in the past 3 years. Lonni was named Coach of the year in the ACC for the past 4 years, and was also named Head Coach for the USAA Pride of the Professional fastpitch league. Lonni previously coached at Stanford and UNLV before coming to FSU, and was a standout collegiate softball pitcher at Mount St Mary’s in San Antonio and at Oklahoma University.
“I’m so fortunate to coach at the collegiate level I still enjoy giving back to the sport I love at the youth and collegiate levels as well.” Alameda said. “We do fundamental drill sessions with all the teams I coach and I believe that is extremely valuable at all levels.” Lonni added, “The internet allows me to spread my training to a much larger audience. And that’s very important to me.”

About Lonni Alameda
Lonni Alameda is the head women’s fastpitch softball coach at Florida State University. Now heading into her ninth season as head coach in 2017, she’s moved FSU up to be one of the nation’s best teams. FSU has played in the NCAA postseason every year under Alameda and finished the 2016 season with a WCWS semifinals appearance. Alameda earned ACC Coach of the Year for the fourth straight season in 2016.
Alameda came to FSU from University of Nevada Las Vegas, where she spent five seasons turning the Rebels’ program into a winner. Alameda moved to Las Vegas after eight seasons as an assistant coach at Stanford University, where she helped guide the Cardinal to a 320-179-1 record and six straight NCAA Regional appearances. Prior to Stanford, Alameda spent two seasons as an assistant coach at Barry University in Florida, where she helped the Buccaneers to a fifth-place NCAA Division II finish in her first
An all-around great athlete, Alameda began her collegiate career as a pitcher at St. Mary’s University (San Antonio, Texas) where she led the Rattlers to the NAIA Tournament. She transferred to Oklahoma University in 1989 where she was a two-time All-Big Eight selection as a first and third baseman, hitting .359 as a senior in 1992. After earning her bachelor’s degree in communications in 1993, Alameda played softball professionally in Europe for a season before taking on a coaching role at Barry.
