Oregon Softball Coach Mike White Joins YSPN360 Online Coaching Staff
New role extends his coaching success to the next generation of young female athletes
January 20, 2016 – Studio City, CA; YSPN360 announced this week that University of Oregon Women’s Softball Coach Mike White will become part of the YSPN360.com coaching and sports education team. Coach White joins Florida State Head Coach Lonni Alameda and Cal State Fullerton Head Coach Kelly Ford, providing softball instruction, training ideas, and game strategy to young players and youth coaches. Coach White’s approach, refined while leading his Oregon women’s team to championship prominence, will help newer coaches and parents make the game more challenging and fun for their aspiring young athletes.
“I’m truly excited about taking part in this chance to help younger players realize how far they can take their abilities,” Coach White remarked. “We all started out with the basics. I think my approach to softball coaching can apply at every level of development. Being able to reach out to so many young athletes and help them grow is an amazing opportunity.”
Now in his 7th season as Oregon head softball coach, White will bring his coaching experience to YSPN360.com through a series of free instructional videos for players and coaches, covering teamwork and position play. His career has spanned 30 years as an International Softball Congress (ISC) Hall of Fame pitcher and coaching veteran. A New Zealand native, he became a U.S. citizen in 1994 and pitched the U.S. team to a bronze medal in the 2000 World Championships.

About Mike White
Mike White is the head women’s softball coach at the University of Oregon. Now in his 7th season as head coach, he has taken the Oregon team to national prominence with their 4th straight PAC-12 title. He will remain head coach at Oregon under a new 6 year contract, and continue the team’s leadership in NCAA women’s World Series Play. At the same time, Coach White will contribute his knowledge and experience to YSPN360.com, through training videos, on-line coaching instruction, and other free on-demand content.
Coach White was born in 1961 in Wellington, New Zealand, and earned his Bachelor of Arts degree in marketing and management from Mount Mercy College (Cedar Rapids, Iowa) in 1989. He became a U.S. citizen in 1994, and continued his international softball playing career as a pitcher for both New Zealand and the United states. Altogether, he has helped teams claim two gold medals, three silver medals and one bronze medal in international championship play, four with New Zealand and two with the United States.
He was previously an assistant softball coach with University of Oregon in 2003 and 2004. He is married to the former Lisa Revers. They have three daughters; Nyree (1992), Kenzie (1995) and Sidney (1997).
