- The second way to receive a throw at second base during a stolen base attempt is in front of the bag.
- The glove-hand foot should be parallel with the front of the base, with the receiver’s shoulders facing first base.
- Like the previous method—straddling the base—the receiver must let the ball get deep before applying the tag. Reaching for the ball and swiping wastes too much (precious) time.
- Make sure the tag is applied straight down—like a tap—so you won’t miss the runner. Be quick!
