- The sacrifice bunt is an integral part of the offense. It looks easy, but takes lots of practice.
- Look for the pitch you can handle: a fastball in the strike zone is best.
Move up in the batter’s box before you come to a set position with the bat: this will reduce the chance of foul balls.
- Predetermine your bat angle based on where you want the bunt to go—between the pitcher and the third base line, or the pitcher and the first base line. Get the bat angle correct and the ball goes where you want it.
- Hit the ball toward the ground, away from the foul lines. Nobody wants a pop-up or wasted strike.
