Sandy Alomar Jr.
Cleveland Indians First Base Coach and Catching Instructor
A six-time MLB All-Star catcher during his 20-year career in the big leagues, Alomar Jr. was named the Catching Instructor for the New York Mets in 2008 and served in that capacity for two seasons. He accepted the post of First Base Coach for the Cleveland Indians in 2009, was promoted to Bench Coach in 2012, and took over as the Tribe’s Manager when Manny Acta was fired late in the season. On the short list of candidates whenever a managerial post opens in the Majors, Alomar Jr. returned to the role of Bench Coach with Cleveland in 2013 and was moved to First Base again prior to the 2014 season. He has been the club’s primary Catching Instructor throughout his time as a coach in the Indians organization.
