- The communication between the third baseman, the pitcher and the catcher is crucial when fielding a bunt.
- If the bunt is hard (past the pitcher), then it’s the third baseman’s ball.
- If the bunt is close to the plate, or the first base side, then the third baseman’s duty is to cover third.
- Again: Communicate!
- When fielding the bunt, use two hands—only attempt to bare-hand the ball when there is no other option.
