- The barehanded play is one of the more difficult plays to make, but solid technique will help the third baseman when the situation calls for it.
- Create an angle: when charging the ball, the third baseman should align the right side (throwing arm) with the ball.
- Keep the hand open as the ball is fielded.
- To complete the play as smoothly as possible, allow the arm to naturally drift into the throwing motion.
