The Oregon Ducks hardly had time to put the proverbial brooms away, coming off of a Pac-12 championship sweep of Cal, before getting the news that they had earned the No. 1 seed in the D-1 NCAA Softball Tourney.

It’s the team’s second No. 1 seed in the past five seasons (2014). And this squad is undoubtedly worthy of the honor.

The Ducks finished the season 47-7, with only three losses in the Pac-12 (21 wins). The offense was a powerhouse, finishing top 10 nationally in both runs—almost six-and-a-half per game—and batting average (.322), while also posting an impressive team ERA (1.12) that was NOT outdone by any other team.

“Now it’s done, now it’s onto the next stage,” head coach Mike White told the media after the NCAA Tournament bracket was selected on Sunday night. “We’ve got to take care of business, it starts on Thursday.”

It’s a difficult task, no question. But the journey begins with the Ducks at a significant advantage, hosting the Eugene Regional at Jane Sanders Stadium, where they went 19-1 during the year.
